First i have to say the packaging was great! Each stack was separated by a sheet of cedar, on the very top was another sheet of cedar printed with the cupido logo. They were bathed in the sweet smell of cedar. This was just my first impression looking at the hand numbered and hand labeled box which said my box was rolled in october. Ok, i know thats normal for a good cigar to have 3 months on them before sold. Here is the thing though in that 3 months every one already had a small bit of bloom on them already. A small amount that can be felt and seen slightly but held in the light it was very noticeable, like little diamonds on them! So to me that was an awesome thing to see how much only 3 months does for this one. I can't wait until they get some real age on them i bet they will be covered in 6 months. (believe me i know the difference i did not get mold, mold would not be all over the entire wrapper and has a crystal like look not at all like mold) out of the box they smoke like years aged, just freaking great. We all know how much don kiki kicks ass but he is stepping up his game all the time, and he takes his time to make sure his new blends are the best and they always are! !!viva don kiki!! Subject :: Cupido criollo - doble What a wonderful surprise! I had no idea the cupido criollo was coming back. In the past, these were my absolute favorite smoke. When i saw the email announcing the return i was thrilled. I just got my box of doble's. I had been a fan of the commandante but when i saw this new size i had to try it. I was not disappointed. These have the same flavor profile as the old ones. Although they dont have the age. The previous run i was smoking had about 6 years age on them and they were everything an excellent cigar with extensive age should be. The new ones do not suffer from any "newness" at all and the sweetness and spice i was anticipating is there. When these get some more age they will be everything the previous cupido criollos were. Pros: Perfectly cured & fermented tobacco - a truly decadent, Havana-esque flavor profile, with marvelous room aroma. Incredible packaging - miles of aromatic Spanish Cedar surround every cigar in the box with unique, artistic flair. Box-aged 1+ years, date stamped & numbered - truly boutique & limited, making it a cigar enthusiast's dream. Intriguing vitola - a boxed pressed figurado unlike anything any other manufacturer offers. Bargain priced, but NOT a bargain cigar - refreshingly priced within reach of anyone who loves fine tobacco. Cons: Construction - this particular vitola seems ever so slightly under-filled, as it can burn erratically, with a loose draw that smokes a little too hot. Aging potential - these seem to be at their peak right out of the box, as their pleasant intensity quickly declines within a few weeks. Overall: This cigar can easily compete with any ultra-premium cigar at any price point, from any country. Smoked patiently--which is hard to do--the construction issue can be mitigated. These perform best immediately after the box is cracked, so feel free to "smoke 'em if ya got 'em." And at this price point, it's easy to do just that. Subject :: Awesome Cigar!!!! I bought a box of Robustos and a box of Dobles a few months apart, over a year ago. They were simply wonderful right off the truck. They both are beautiful to look at, the construction is virtually flawless. The cool draw brings hints of leather and almonds with a little spice (never thought I would hear myself say that!!). The burn was wonderful and seldom did one need any touchups. I simply love these smokes, but I am down to my last 3. My finances have taken a hit in this weak economy, so it may take a while to replace them, but I will if you people leave me some. Steve in Texas
