J.L. SALAZAR y HERMANOS Reserva Especial Robusto is a typical Cuban Box-Pressed cigar. The cigars are silky, dark and rich. The master rollers have handmade each Robusto to draw firmly and to burn evenly. The tobacco leaves in the cigars are aged for over three years and specially cured through four fermentations. The Filler is a sun-grown Cuban Seed Habano tobacco from Tabacalera Esteli. The Binder is a wrapper quality Cuban-Seed Habano 2000 leaf and the Wrapper is a flawless Ecuadorian grown Cuban Seed Habano leaf. Each cigar is made in the same old fashioned way that the Salazar Family made them in Cuba. The Robusto cigars are 5½” long and have a large ring gauge of 52.
Since 1810, when the Salazar family settled in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba, they have been growing some of the world’s finest tobacco and handcrafting fine cigars. At 12 noon every day, the 4 Salazar brothers would meet in the porch of elder brother Mario’s house in the farm. Mario would open his burlap bag which contained the finest tobacco leaves of the farm’s harvest. The cured leaves were perfect in looks and taste and were the envy of the other tobacco farmers in Cuba’s prime tobacco growing region. The burlap bag would be passed around and each brother would roll their own Cuban cigars. They would each roll enough cigars for the day’s smoke. Each would have a different preferred cigar size but the blend would always be the same for all four brothers. Mario’s sons, J.L. Salazar and his brothers, have carried on that tradition and special blend of tobacco leaves in these exquisite robusto cigars. These J.L. Salazar y Hermanos Cabinet Selection Robusto cigars are each totally handmade by a master Cuban Cigars roller. They use the secret Salazar Brothers’ blend and only the finest Cuban Seed leaves. The mellow and rich taste is unmatched. After trying these, you too will know why J.L. Salazar and his brothers are so proud of their family’s traditions.

Subject :: Best
I have smoked every premium brand out there, including most cubans. This cigar is the best i have ever had. I enjoy trying different cigars, but this will definitely become my standard. The quality is superb. I think your business will grow. Please do not change the quality control you currently have due to increased demand. By the way, your customer service is excellent also. Thanks.
Subject :: Excellent cigar
I lit this up after in the humidor for about a month. I received it as a sampler pack and was pleasantly surprised. A little stronger than i am used to but it was so good i was willing to accept the richer flavor. It burned perfectly right to the end. I even tried letting it sit for about five minutes and still it came right back with a great smoke and taste. I will definitely be ordering more of these...jb
Subject :: Great smoke!
This is my favorite. The flavor is very smooth and the draw is perfect. I usually smoke this one down until it burns my fingers. Awesome.
Subject :: J.l. Sal robusto
I had tried several of these fine cigars from previous samplers and finaly purchased a box. Folks, if you have been reluctant to try this cigar, do not hesitate any longer! An extremely well made cigar with a superb burn and draw! Full-boddied and rich without the bite! Somewhat leathery and spicy with hints of dark chocolate, a very tasty smoke! I have several well-stocked humidors and the humidor i open most often, contains my salazars. I love this cigar! Thanks c.c. David - plano,tx
Subject :: Great smoke!
Thank you for producing such an enjoyable smoke. I got a sampler sent from don kiki and am just finishing up this beautifal robusto.
the ash is a solid white, i finally tipped it after 1 1/2 inches. Draw was absolutely perfect. Burn is straight as an arrow.
this square pressed cigar has a taste that i describe and med-full. Starts out medium and builds to a complex smoke that i loved so much i decided to write review. I buy and smoke anywhere from $30 to $285 a box and these are my new favorite "at any price level"
thanks again, now i gotta go check out for my new box.

Very good. Tastes just like the flier said. So smooth it doesn't seem full bodied to me. Flavor held throughout. I would call mild to medium, yet medium taste.
randy-colo.
Subject :: I love this cigar!
I love it! I can't smoke anything else.
Subject :: salazar robusto
Well made with a goodlooking wrapper. easy draw and a very even long white ash. hotter than the torpedo, due to size, and very peppery in taste. in fact, before lighting i ran it under my nose a few times and my nose began to tingle. if you want a full flavored that is spicey, this one is for you! b. kaekel
Subject :: Best kept secret
Reading about the salazars got my curiousity going. I found them at a local b/m and fired up a robusto, hoping i could "deal with it". ha, what a pleasant surprise! After 3/8" ash formed, all i could say was "wow!". The spicy, almost sweet flavor was consistently smooth down to a nub. In fact, it was so smooth, i thought it was more like a medium in strength, but full flavored. I left the store with the remaining 1/2 box of robustos. Since then, i have been spreading the word to my friends...get some salazars!
Subject :: Great
Just got this cigar in a sampler pack and wowwwww.... what a great one. Chocalate and spice flavors. Smooth and well burning. It packs a great punch and is extremely well made. Sorry to see you're out of stock right now. Hope you are getting more.
Subject :: Burn
Got one of these in the sampler pack that i let sit for about a month before smoking. Started out great. Wonderful taste and aroma, but about a quarter ways through it started burning uneven. Had to relite. Must of got a bad apple. But if it would of burned correctly, this would of been a wonderful cigar. Would like to try another one.
Subject :: Yum!
Used to smoke cigarettes 10 years ago. Sample pack received, lit this up. Half way thru it was like smoking cocoa. Box pressed, dark wrapper, easy draw. Lots of flavor and smoke. I ordered a whole box right after the sample was out. Been enjoying them since. Now the best part, i think, is to use your nose once it is lit. Little whiffs of smoke. It's like toasted chocolate. Aboslutely wonderful!
Subject :: Buenisimo!!!

Very good, really enjoyed..

Subject :: Outstanding!
I have been smoking premiums for over 12 years and this is one of the best I''ve had in a long time. I've paid 2-3 times more money for others that could not even compare to the quality, draw, and heavenly aroma of these beauties. As a rule, I'll smoke at least five or six before deciding if a new cigar is a "keeper", but this one had me head over heels in love with it less than halfway through the first one-- and it only got better. It reminds me of why i enjoy them and I'm only sorry i waited so long after finding cuban crafters before trying these. If you like medium to full bodied with complex flavors, this might be your new favorite stick.
i will not let myself run out of these. Thanks to cc and the Salazar family for a superior product. John from texas
Subject :: 3 thumbs up!
After reading all the reviews i finally decided to give these babies a shot. Great taste and nice even burn all the way to the end. I\'ve smoked similar cigars that cost 5 times what the j.l. Salazar y hermanos reserva especials do and i\'ll never spend that much money again. I will be back for more!
Subject :: Great cigars
I found the above giars of excellent quality! They draw well, have good smoke and flavour. So far, i have smoked 8 of them and all have smoked perfectly, unlike the romeo and juliet churchills my wife brought from cuba.
Subject :: Ruined for life...
I'm fairly very new at this game and your sampler has thrown me from the frying pan into the fire. I was fine smoking what was admittadly substandard cigars, but now that i know what a premium really tastes like, i can already tell you that going back will be hard. This burned so evenly, tasted so smooth, and with so much flavor. I know that there's still a lot more out there to try, but i know i'll be back for more of these in the very near future. Thank you for letting me know what's still out there. steve - plano, texas (soon to be colorado)

This is the most strange cigar i have ever smoked. Being an aficionado for 3 years, and this cigar amazed me the most. Has a very high quality made and construction in an convinious price. Smoking this stick is a real pleasure.this cigar is very similer to the cubans. Light and burn good. Start with a very strong taste of spice and aged tobacco flavour then gets lighter to medium after the 1st inch. Nice aroma of sweetness and leather. Reader give it a try, because it worth it!!!

Subject :: Two amigos
Having bought a sampler,there were two cigars that stood out, miles out i should say and have just re-ordered, i cannot imagine another cigar having the heavinly flavour that these two beauties put forth,i'm talking la carolina and the j.l.salazar --- the fab two rico in canada.
Subject :: Nice cigars!
Here in the pacific northwest we have been bombarded by snow storm after snow storm (1-5-2009). i was out on my 4-wheeler plowing snow and stopped at the post office and picked up my cigars. With temperatures in the low 20\'s i headed home to take a break from plowing snow and quickly opened up the box to light one up. My first impressions about this brand of cigar was...excellent!!!
it was snowing pretty hard and i didn\'t even care. I was standing in my garage with the door wide open enjoying the flavor and easy draw and admiring how long the ash got before it fell off. At one point there was a little uneven burn (possibly any cigar would burn uneven in these winter conditions?) but it worked itself out as i continued to enjoy the aroma and flavor. I also like the box pressed style as it just feels better in my mouth as i was working on the plow cable and didn\'t want to put it down. This cigar really has a pleasant aroma and a quality taste. While it was cold outside i didn\'t mind at all while experiencing my first encounter with this brand of cigar.
i\'m very satisfied with these and will likely purchase them again. I also bought a box of churchill carolinas and am eager to try one of them also.
great cigars and a great purchasing experience from cc. These people are professionals in the shop and on the internet. Thank you very much for your excellent service and quick shipping! You guys are great!!!
Subject :: Best of
Ok no doubt the best of the 12 sampler.PERFECT construction which shows even from the cutting,excellent draw,burned extremely even and kept burning after an almost 5 minute break.Perfect taste as well.Made my day!Really good cigar
Subject :: Trying a J.L. Salazar
I got one of these in a sampler and was quite excited to experience it. The box pressed shape of it felt great in hand and mouth. The smell of the cigar was nice but the taste was not so rewarding. A good but not great experience. I will likely try them again to make sure. maybe get the set of churchills that come in their own little humidor which would be great for travel.
Subject :: SAL ROBUSTO
I was so excited to get these Sal robustos along with a box of Don Kiki brown label botellas i orderd.When they came in i smoked the Don Kiki first......loved it.After a short pallet cleansing break i pounced on the JL SAL robusto.I was instantly transported back to Europe and Latin America where i have smoked boxes and boxes of different havanas.I miss that flavor and many of the cubans these days are not all that great,some are still great but i think most people that have smoked them in the past know what i am talking about.These babies deliver ,They have that woody floral flavor with great spice through the nose.Most of the strength comes through the nose as well. I am giddy that i can get these cigars with this flavor at this price.Cuban Crafters are an answer to prayer for us who love this flavor profile.I have said it in another review.....if you love full bodied cigars,get some get some get some....no risk here just reward...Tony P from Nashville Tn.
Subject :: Excellent cigar!
Didn\'t really have the chance to try a lot of non-cuban cigars so far,but since I smoked the Salazar robusto I feel that I\'ve been missing a lot.Keep up the good work Cuban Crafters!

I received my order of 25 J. L. Salazar Y Hermanos Reserva Especial Robusto cigars yesterday. Sat on the back patio last night and enjoyed a fine smoke along with a cocktail. Just a fine cigar and a great way to end the day. Joe from Texas.
Subject :: Maybe a New Customer
I just have to pass this experience along. My wife and I just came back from a road trip to Indiana. We stayed with a high school friend of mine and his wife. He likes a good cigar from time to time. I took several of these J. L. Salazar Y Hermanos Reserva Especial Robusto cigars with me. One afternoon we sat out back with a cup of espresso and enjoyed one of these fine cigars. Here\'s the kicker. He kept commenting on how good the draw was, how good the burn was and how good the taste was. The next thing I notice is he has removed the paper band and continues to smoke. He took it down to a quarter of an inch left and finally surrendered the remains to the ashtray. He said it was one of the best cigars he\'s ever smoked. I left him four of these cigars so he can continue to enjoy them. He said he\'ll be going on line to order some. By the way, we both grew up in Miami, keep it going Cuban Crafters.
Subject :: Amazing
I received one of these in a sampler pack, and lit it up after about a week. Boy was I surprised. I must admit, I have been so spoiled by Cuban Crafters, I can\'t even smoke other so called \"premium\" cigars anymore. I have smoked many cigars from around the world, but this is by far the best, and yes I mean #1 best cigar I have ever smoked.
Subject :: SAL ROBUSTO
A very fine smoke. Gray cliff or aston has nothing on these.
Subject :: The One
I get a order every 6 months or so to restock the humi and this is the first box on the order every time. Try to save them a up a bit but they always run out first. This is my all time favourite and I can\'t see that changing any time soon. Quite a strong smoke but so smooth you dont really notice, draws perfect, tastes great. I know there are more expensive higher rated cigars out there but this is the best as rated by me. The One! Fred, Oztrailier
